How to use Take-Home Pay Calculator (Indonesia)

  1. Enter basic salary, fixed allowances, average non-fixed allowances or overtime, and other deductions if any.

  2. Select your PTKP (non-taxable income threshold) status, the BPJS programs you are enrolled in, and the JKK risk class of your company.

  3. Read the estimated take-home pay for January to November, the December outlook, and the breakdown of how it was calculated.

The take-home pay formula

Take-home pay = gross cash salary − employee BPJS contributions − PPh 21 − other deductions. The employee’s BPJS contributions are BPJS Health 1% (calculated on wages up to Rp12 million), Old-Age Security (JHT) 2%, and Pension Security (JP) 1% (calculated on wages up to Rp11,086,300 since March 2026). The basis is basic salary plus fixed allowances; overtime and non-fixed allowances are excluded.

The employer’s share (BPJS Health 4%, JHT 3.7%, JP 2%, JKK and JKM) is not deducted from your pay. However, the Health, JKK (Work Accident Security) and JKM (Death Security) premiums paid by the employer count as gross income for calculating PPh 21, so they do raise the tax.

PPh 21 with the TER method

Since 2024, PPh 21 withheld from permanent employees from January to November uses the effective average rate (TER) for the PTKP category, multiplied by one month of gross income (PP 58/2023 and PMK 168/2023). In the final tax period, the annual tax is recalculated at the Article 17 rates after the occupational expense deduction, the employee’s JHT and JP contributions, and the PTKP, then reduced by the earlier withholding. That is why December take-home pay can differ from other months.

The December outlook in this tool assumes the same income throughout the year. If there is a bonus, THR (religious holiday allowance) or a salary change mid-year, the actual figures will differ.

Government-borne PPh 21 in 2026

For the 2026 tax year, PMK 105/2025 provides a government-borne PPh 21 incentive for permanent employees with fixed, regular gross income of up to Rp10 million a month, but only at employers in certain sectors: footwear, textiles and garments, furniture, leather and leather goods, and tourism. The PPh 21 is paid in cash to the employee. Tick this option only if your employer confirms it applies it.

Questions about Take-Home Pay Calculator (Indonesia)

What is the difference between gross and net salary?

Gross salary is income before deductions. Net salary (take-home pay) is what you receive after the employee’s BPJS contributions, PPh 21 and other deductions such as cash advances or cooperative payments are subtracted.

How much BPJS is deducted from an employee’s salary?

The employee’s share: BPJS Health 1%, JHT 2% and JP 1%, about 4% of wages in total once the Health wage cap of Rp12 million and the JP cap of Rp11,086,300 are taken into account. JKK and JKM are paid by the employer.

Why is the PPh 21 on my payslip different from this result?

Common causes: the gross income on your payslip includes other components (bonuses, THR, insurance premiums), a different PTKP status, rounding by the employer, or you started work mid-year. Ask your payroll department for the details.

Why can December take-home pay be different?

In the final tax period, PPh 21 is recalculated for the whole year at the Article 17 rates. The result can be higher or lower than the total TER withholding from January to November, creating an underpayment or overpayment in December.

Is my salary sent to a server?

No. All calculations run in your browser and the figures are not stored.
