How to use Number to Words (Indonesian Terbilang)

  1. Type a number. Commas for thousands and a period for decimals are both recognized.

  2. Choose the unit (rupiah or no unit) and the capitalization style.

  3. Copy the terbilang result into your document.

Rules for writing terbilang

In Indonesian, 1 in the hundreds and thousands is written “seratus” and “seribu”, not “satu ratus” or “satu ribu”. The number 11 becomes “sebelas”. For larger units, “satu juta”, “satu miliar” and so on are used. This tool follows those conventions.

The levels are ribu (10³), juta (10⁶), miliar (10⁹), triliun (10¹²), kuadriliun (10¹⁵) and so on. The decimal part is read after the word “koma” (comma), with each digit spoken one by one.

Writing it on a receipt

On a receipt, terbilang usually starts with a capital letter and ends with the unit, for example “Terbilang: Satu Juta Dua Ratus Ribu Rupiah”. Use the capitalization option to match.
