How to use Meta Tag Generator

  1. Enter the page title, description and URL. Watch the length counters.

  2. Add a preview image, and set the robots options if the page should not be indexed.

  3. Copy the resulting HTML and paste it inside the <head> of your page.

Which meta tags matter most?

The title tag and meta description appear in search results and strongly affect whether people click. The canonical tag points to the main URL when the same content can be opened from several addresses. Open Graph and Twitter Card tags set the title, description and image that appear when a link is shared on WhatsApp, Facebook, LinkedIn or X.

Google no longer uses meta keywords for ranking, so this tool does not create them.

Length guidelines

A title of about 50–60 characters and a description of about 150–160 characters usually do not get cut off. The real limit is based on pixel width, so treat these numbers as a guide. The recommended Open Graph image size is 1200 × 630 pixels.

Questions about Meta Tag Generator

Are meta keywords still needed?

No. Google has said it does not use meta keywords for ranking, so that tag is not generated here.

What is the difference between meta description and og:description?

The meta description is read by search engines, while og:description is read by platforms that show link previews, such as WhatsApp and Facebook. They can have the same content.

When should I use noindex?

For pages you do not want in search results, such as thank-you pages, internal search results or drafts. Make sure the page is not blocked in robots.txt, because crawlers need to open it to read the noindex tag.

Does Google always use the description I write?

Not always. Google may show a different snippet from the page if it matches the search better. A good description still improves the chance that yours is used.

Where do I paste this code?

Inside the <head> element of the page’s HTML. On a CMS such as WordPress, use an SEO plugin or your theme’s built-in SEO fields instead of pasting it by hand on every page.
