Poor randomization, such as taking the modulo of a random number without correction, makes some results show up slightly more often. This tool uses rejection sampling on top of crypto.getRandomValues so that every number in the range has a truly equal chance.
Paste the list of participants, one name per line, then set the number of winners. The no-repeat option makes sure one name can’t win twice. For an official draw or a big prize, set up a process others can check, such as a live broadcast, because the result on this screen can’t be audited afterwards.
Yes, in a practical sense. The tool uses your browser’s cryptographic random generator and avoids modulo bias, so results can’t be predicted.
Turn on “no repeats”. Names that have already been picked are not drawn again. The number of winners can’t exceed the number of names in the list.
Each line counts as one ticket. Writing a name twice gives it double the chance. Turn on the remove-duplicate-names option if you don’t want that.
Whole numbers up to about nine quadrillion (the safe integer limit in JavaScript), and the range can’t be larger than that.
