Use Edit PDF Metadata

Your file is processed on your device and never sent to a server.

How to use Edit PDF Metadata

  1. Choose or drag one PDF file. Any existing metadata is filled in right away.

  2. Change the title, author, subject and keywords. Leave a field empty to remove it.

  3. Press Save metadata, or Remove all metadata to clear every document property.

Why metadata matters

The title in the metadata often appears as the tab name when a PDF is opened in a browser, and as the result title in search. The author and creating application are stored too, sometimes containing a computer name or a person’s name you don’t want to share.

That is why checking the metadata before sending a document to an outside party is a good habit, especially for documents that come from an office device.

XMP and the limits of removal

Besides the standard fields, many PDFs keep a copy of the metadata in XMP format. Some viewers read XMP first, so without removing it the old title or author can still show. This tool offers to remove XMP together with the standard fields.

Removal only touches the document properties. Data embedded inside images in the PDF, for example GPS location in a photo, is not removed, and the page content does not change.

Questions about Edit PDF Metadata

Does metadata affect the content of the document?

No. Metadata is a file property; the text, images and page appearance do not change.

How do I write several keywords?

Separate them with commas, for example: tax, report, 2026. Some apps and search engines use this field to understand what the document is about.

Does the creation date change too?

Not with Save metadata. The original dates are left alone. With Remove all metadata, the creation and modification dates are removed as well.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Everything runs in your browser, so documents such as contracts, diplomas or payslips never leave your device. You can test it yourself: open the tool page, wait a moment, disconnect from the internet, then choose a PDF. With an ordinary PDF, the tool keeps working.

What about password-protected PDFs?

Password-protected PDFs can’t be processed with this tool yet, and it will tell you if you choose one. Unlock the file first with the Unlock PDF tool on Tipamedia (you need the correct password), then try again.

What is the maximum PDF size?

100 MB per file. This limit keeps the browser, especially on phones, from running out of memory. Files that large can feel slow; if it stalls, close other tabs or try a computer.
