The measure and how to calculate it

The general benchmark for zakat al-fitr in Indonesia is 2.5 kilograms of rice per person, which can be paid in rice or in money equal to the price of that rice. This tool’s formula: zakat per person = 2.5 kg × rice price per kg, and total = zakat per person × number of people. Example: a rice price of Rp15,000 per kg gives Rp37,500 per person, and for 4 people it comes to Rp150,000.

Zakat al-fitr is paid before Eid al-Fitr, ideally before the Eid prayer. The amount per person in rupiah can differ between regions and years because it follows the rice price, so local zakat institutions usually announce the figure. We deliberately set no default price so that you use the price that applies where you live.
