It supports standard Markdown and the GitHub (GFM) extensions: headings (# to ######), **bold**, *italic*, ~~strikethrough~~, links and images, ordered and unordered lists, task lists (- [x]), quotes (>), fenced code blocks with a language, inline code, horizontal rules and tables. The Line breaks become <br> option mimics the style of GitHub comments.
Markdown can embed raw HTML, and that is a common route for XSS attacks. That is why the output is sanitized by DOMPurify before it is shown: scripts, event attributes (onclick, onerror) and javascript: links are removed. You can also turn raw HTML off so tags are shown as text. Links to outside sites open in a new tab with rel noopener.

Safe tags such as <br> or <details> are shown, but scripts and dangerous attributes are removed by the sanitizer. Turn off the raw HTML option to show every tag as text.
