Crop Image Online

Crop a photo to fit your needs: drag the crop box or type exact sizes. The photo is not uploaded to a server, and the original pixels are kept unless you ask for a smaller output.

Use Crop Image

Images are processed on your device and are never sent to a server.

How to use Crop Image

  1. Choose or drag one JPG, PNG or WebP image.

  2. Drag the crop box or its handles. Pick a ratio if you need one (1:1, 4:3, 16:9 and more), or rotate the image first.

  3. Choose the output format, then press Crop and download.

Common aspect ratios

Use 1:1 (square) for profile photos and feed posts, 4:5 for portrait posts, 9:16 for stories and short videos, 16:9 for covers and video thumbnails, and 3:2 and 4:3 for ordinary camera photos. Choosing a ratio locks the crop box so its shape does not change when you drag it.

For a very specific size, type the X, Y, width and height numbers in the fields provided. Fill in Output width if the crop needs to be scaled down to a certain width.

Output quality

Cropping does not change the pixels inside the selected area. If the output format matches the original and you leave the output width empty, the pixels are identical to the original; only JPG and WebP are re-encoded, so there is a small change from compression. Choose PNG if you want no quality loss.

Circle crop for profile photos

Turn on the circular crop for profile photos. The area outside the circle becomes transparent, so save as PNG or WebP. With JPG, the outside becomes white because JPG has no transparency.

Questions about Crop Image

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. Cropping runs entirely in your browser, so personal photos and documents never leave your device.

Can I crop without changing the ratio?

Yes. Pick a ratio (for example 4:3), then drag the box or pull a handle: the box keeps that ratio.

How do I crop with the keyboard?

Press Tab until the crop box is focused, then use the arrow keys to move it (hold Shift for 10 times the distance) and the + or − keys to resize it. You can also type numbers into the Left, Top, Width and Height fields.

Why does a photo from my phone appear rotated?

Some photos store their orientation in EXIF data. Modern browsers apply it automatically. If it still looks rotated, use the Rotate left or Rotate right button before cropping.

What is the image size limit?

40 MB and about 50 megapixels per image, so the browser does not run out of memory. For larger photos, shrink them first with Resize Image.
