Your page title will appear here

Your page description will appear here. Write a clear summary that makes people want to click.

Estimate: Google may show a different version.

How to use SERP Preview

  1. Enter the page title, URL and meta description.

  2. Choose the desktop or mobile view and look for the parts that are cut off (…).

  3. Adjust the text until the most important message is not truncated, then use it on your page.

Why is the limit in pixels, not characters?

Google cuts titles and descriptions by their display width, not by the number of letters. Wide letters such as M and W take more room than i or l, so two titles with the same character count can be cut at different places. This tool measures text width in your browser to estimate it.

The result is only an estimate

The real display can differ because Google is free to rewrite titles and descriptions and to change its design over time. Use this preview to avoid obvious truncation, not as a guarantee of how your result will look.

Questions about SERP Preview

What are the truncation limits for titles and descriptions?

As an estimate, titles are cut at about 600 pixels (roughly 50–60 characters) and descriptions at about 920 pixels on desktop (roughly 150–160 characters). Google does not publish the exact numbers, and they can change.

Why does Google show a different title from my title tag?

Google sometimes rewrites a title when the title tag is too long, too generic, or does not match the page content and the search. A clear, short title makes that less likely.

Does the description affect rankings?

The meta description is not a direct ranking factor, but it affects how appealing your result looks, and so it influences the click-through rate.

What is the difference between the desktop and mobile views?

On phones the space for the description is narrower, so it gets cut earlier. Put the most important information at the start of the description.
