How to use Indonesia Inflation Calculator

  1. Choose Value of money across years or Projection.

  2. Enter the amount, then pick the start and end years, or enter an inflation assumption and the number of years.

  3. Read the equivalent value, cumulative increase, average inflation per year and the year-by-year breakdown.

How the value of money across years is calculated

Annual inflation is chained by multiplying, not adding: factor = (1 + i₁) × (1 + i₂) × … × (1 + iₙ). Equivalent value = amount × factor. Example: Rp1 million at the end of 2024 equals Rp1,029,200 at the end of 2025, because 2025 inflation was 2.92%. From the end of 2000 to the end of 2025, prices rose about 3.9 times.

The data uses national annual inflation from December to December, based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from Bank Indonesia and BPS (Statistics Indonesia). For the current year, this tool uses calendar-year inflation up to the latest BPS data month (September 2026: 2.17%).

How precise it is

National inflation is an average across a basket of goods. Prices for schooling, property, food or a particular city can rise much faster or slower. Use the result as a picture of purchasing power, not as a benchmark for the price of any one item. The data is updated every January after BPS releases annual inflation, and every month for the current-year figure.

Questions about Indonesia Inflation Calculator

What was Indonesia’s inflation in 2025?

According to BPS, annual inflation (December 2025 against December 2024) was 2.92%, up from 1.57% in 2024.

How is inflation over several years calculated?

By chained multiplication: (1 + first year’s inflation) × (1 + second year’s inflation) and so on. Adding the percentages would understate the compounding effect.

What is the difference between cumulative increase and average per year?

The cumulative increase is the total price rise over the whole period. The average per year is the constant yearly rate that produces the same total rise (the geometric mean).

Why do prices of what I buy rise faster than this figure?

National inflation blends many goods. Price rises for specific goods or in specific cities can differ widely from the national average.

Is my data sent to a server?

No. The calculation runs in your browser using inflation data embedded in the page.
