Tips for a readable document PDF that isn’t too big

Photograph documents in bright, flat light so the text is clear, then trim any unneeded edges. Choose the “medium” or “small” image size if the PDF will be uploaded to a portal that limits file size. If it is still too large, shrink the images first with the Compress Image tool.

How it works

Each image is redrawn onto a canvas, taking the camera’s photo orientation into account, then saved as a JPEG inside the PDF page. A transparent background in a PNG becomes white. Because the images are embedded as pictures, the text inside them cannot be selected or searched like in an OCR-processed PDF.

Questions about Image to PDF

How do I combine several photos into one PDF?

Add all the photos, set their order with the up and down buttons, then click Create PDF. Each photo becomes one page, in the order of the list.

What size is the A4 paper used?

A4 measures 210 × 297 mm (595 × 842 PDF points). The image is placed in the center of the page and scaled down as needed to fit inside the margins without changing its proportions.

Can the text in the PDF be selected or searched?

No. The PDF that is created contains images, not text. A searchable PDF needs an OCR step, which is not part of this tool.

Is there a limit on the number or size of images?

There is no fixed limit; what limits you is your device’s memory. For dozens of high-resolution photos, choose the medium or small image size so processing stays smooth.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. The PDF is made entirely in your browser.
