Where do the rates come from?
Rates come from the Frankfurter service, which publishes the European Central Bank (ECB) daily reference rates. The ECB publishes them on working days, so weekends and European holidays use the last working day’s rate. Only about 30 currencies are available; the Saudi riyal and UAE dirham, for example, are not included.
That makes this tool suited to estimates, price comparisons and learning. The rate you get when exchanging money at a bank, money changer or digital wallet differs because it includes a buy-sell spread and fees.
